Offline

Effective 1 October 2026 (app version 0.3.0)

Privacy Policy

Offline keeps what you write on your phone. We do not have accounts, and we do not have a copy of your day. This page says exactly what that means — including what does leave your device, now and when that list grows.

The short version

We collect no personal information about you. Your missions, your journal entries, your habits, your goals, your streak and your custom titles are written to storage on your own device and are never sent to us. We could not read them if we wanted to, because they never arrive anywhere we control.

There is no sign-up, no email address, no password, and no profile. Offline does not know who you are.

The one thing that does leave your device

When you open Offline, the app asks a server whether a newer version of the app is available, and downloads it if so. That is how fixes and improvements reach you without you reinstalling anything.

That service is Expo Updates, run by Expo (expo.dev/privacy). Making that request means Expo's servers receive your device's IP address, along with technical details needed to serve the right update — your platform (iOS or Android) and which version of the app you are running.

It does not send anything about your day. No missions, no journal, no habits, no identifiers we created. It is the same kind of request your phone makes when it loads any web page.

We are telling you this plainly rather than writing "we collect nothing", because "nothing" would not be true and you deserve the accurate version.

What Offline does not do

Ads

From version 0.3.0, Offline can show one kind of ad: a full-screen ad after you complete a mission, at most every few minutes, never in your first session, never while the focus timer runs. Nothing is earned by watching one, and a mission always counts whether or not an ad shows. A release build requests that ad only when its production ad units are configured. Until they are, the release build does not request an ad.

The ad company is Google AdMob. When an ad is requested, AdMob receives what any ad request carries: your device's type and operating system, an IP address, and — unless you have turned it off in your phone's settings — an advertising identifier. Offline asks AdMob for non-personalized ads only, marks every request as coming from a user under the age of consent, and limits ads to content rated for general audiences. Because every request is marked as under the age of consent, Google does not show a personalized-ads consent form; ads stay non-personalized for everyone. How Google handles this is described in Google's policy for partner apps.

AdMob never receives your journal, your missions, your habits, your photos, or anything about your day. Offline Pro turns ads off completely.

Offline Pro (purchases)

Offline Pro is an optional subscription that removes ads. It is bought and managed entirely through your App Store or Google Play account; Apple or Google handle the payment, and we never see your card or your name. The app only asks the store whether your account has an active Pro subscription.

Reminders

If you turn on a daily reminder, it is scheduled by your own phone and shown by your own phone. Nothing is sent to a server to make it appear, and no push token is registered. Turning reminders off in Settings stops them.

Where your data lives, and how to delete it

WhatWhere it livesHow to remove it

Deleting Offline removes its data from your phone. Because we never receive a copy, there is nothing for us to delete on our side and no request you need to make of us.

Settings also has Export my data, which produces a file containing your own record — including your journal. That file is yours; be careful where you send it.

Backups

Your phone's own backup system (iCloud on iPhone, Google's backup on Android) may include Offline's data along with the rest of your apps, according to your device settings. That is between you, your phone and Apple or Google — it does not involve us.

The app stores

Offline is distributed through the App Store and Google Play. Apple and Google collect their own information about downloads, and — depending on your device settings — may collect crash reports. That happens under Apple's and Google's privacy policies, not ours, and we do not receive personal information from it.

Younger members

Offline is built for people from around 15 years old upward. We do not have accounts and we do not receive your child's day. From version 0.3.0 an ad, when one is requested, goes through Google AdMob as non-personalized and under the age of consent (see Ads above) — still not the journal, still not the missions. If you are a parent or guardian with a question, write to us; the honest answer is on this page.

Changes to this policy

If what the app does changes, this page changes with it, and the effective date at the top moves. If a change ever meant Offline started collecting something, we would say so here plainly and at the top, not bury it.
